my experience and training...
I am a
39-year-old licensed psychologist with professional training and
experience in treating trauma-related disorders, substance abuse,
depression
and anxiety. I provide individual psychotherapy to children,
adolescents and adults. I am trained in sandplay, play therapy, and art
therapy, which I use to help children and adolescents.
I also provide collateral work with
other medical providers (like doctors and psychiatrists), and
significant others (such as lovers and family members). I am trained
and
experienced in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), which is
a powerful way to help people move past distressing emotional responses
to
traumatic events.
I am proud to serve people from a variety of cultural and ethnic
backgrounds. My doctoral degree in Psychology from John F. Kennedy
University in Pleasant Hill, CA, prepared me well to serve a multicultural client base. This
includes ethnically and culturally diverse people, gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered adults, people from
various economic backgrounds, and people with varied religious and
spiritual practices. I love treating a wide variety of people and believe that this creates a climate of acceptance and true understanding. I have a flexible and client-centered
approach that works well for my clients.
My professional
affiliations include:
California
Psychological Association, Los Angeles County Chapter
California
Association of Marriage and Family Therapists
EMDR
International Association
California Therapists for Marriage Equality
